How to create tasks in journeys

Discover the different task types and learn what each type means.

Updated yesterday

When creating a journey, journey templates or reusable steps, you’ll be asked to add tasks to guide employees through each process. Each task includes specific fields to fill out—let’s explore what these fields mean.

1. Task type

At the moment we support the following types of tasks:

  • Task: A standard task where you can write out instructions for the employee.

  • File upload: Request the employee to upload specific files to a designated directory.

  • Profile data: Ask the employee to update information in their profile.

2. Name and instructions

Provide a clear, concise name for the task. Use the instructions field to give more detailed guidance, ensuring employees understand exactly what to do.

3. Assign

Assign the task to specific employees. Filter by employees, departments & groups and roles to target the right participants.

4. Task type specific fields

Each task type comes with its own additional unique field to capture the required information or action. Below, we explain which fields are available for each task type.

Task

  • Attach file: You can upload a file if needed.

File upload

  • Upload directory: Specify the destination where files should be uploaded.

Profile data

  • Fields to be edited: Select the profile fields you want the employee to update or complete.
