Running a proper survey used to mean starting from scratch every time: writing questions, scheduling reminders, and building a dashboard afterward. Pulse surveys remove that overhead. Turn them on once, and Tellent sends out short, recurring checks automatically, so you can watch how things like workload, leadership, and ENPS change over time.
📌 Note: Only HR can turn on and configure pulse surveys.
Turn on pulse surveys
Enabling pulse surveys takes just a couple of clicks, and you can adjust every setting afterward.
Go to Grow > Engagement > Pulse surveys.
Click Activate Pulse check.
Choose your frequency
Your frequency determines how often employees receive a check, and when the first one goes out.
Select how often checks go out: daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly.
Choose the day of the week and a send time between 8 AM and 5 PM.
Set the date of your first check.
💡 Tip: Match your frequency to how quickly you want to spot change. A daily or weekly frequency surfaces shifts fast but needs a light question set. A quarterly frequency can carry more questions, since you have more time between checks.
Choose your questions
Pulse surveys draw from a library of pre-built metrics, like ENPS, workload, and leadership, so you don't have to write questions from scratch.
Browse the metric library and select the metrics you want to track.
Decide how many questions to include in each check. Most teams send one or two questions per check.
For each question, choose whether to allow an open comment field, edit the question label, or remove the question entirely.
💡 Tip: Match your question count to your frequency. Sending ten questions every day overwhelms employees and buries the signal you're trying to track. Sending a single question every quarter waits too long to catch a change. Aim for a volume that lets you act before a problem grows.
Preview before you save
Before your pulse survey goes live, you can see exactly what employees will receive and when.
Review the calendar view to see which questions go out on which dates.
Open the email preview to check exactly what employees will see.
Click Save to schedule your pulse survey.
📌 Note: Once you save, pulse surveys run automatically. You don't need to send anything manually, and there's no gap between one check ending and the next one starting.
Manage a running pulse survey
You can adjust or stop a pulse survey at any point after it's live.
Edit your settings

Select Edit settings.

📌 Note: Disabling a pulse survey stops future checks. Your past results stay available in the Checks tab.
Examples
Scenario: Keeping a monthly pulse on wellbeing and workload
Your HR team wants an early signal if burnout risk is building. You set a monthly frequency, select the wellbeing and workload metrics, and allow open comments on both. Every month, you get a fresh read without lifting a finger.
Scenario: Running a lightweight quarterly ENPS check
You want a simple, low-effort way to track overall sentiment. You set a quarterly frequency, select only the ENPS metric, and let pulse surveys handle scheduling and delivery from there.
