Once you’ve launched a Custom Survey, its results update as answers come in, so you can check progress at any time. This article shows you how to read the summary, look at individual responses, filter by manager, group, or custom field, export to Excel, and decide when a survey is done.
To build and launch a survey first, read Create and launch a Custom Survey.
Note: In an anonymous survey, results stay hidden until at least 5 people have responded. Until then, the results page shows how many responses have come in so far. The results page of an anonymous survey before 5 people have responded. Only HR can create and manage Custom Surveys.
Review the results
In Tellent HR Grow, go to Engagement > Custom surveys and open the survey. You’ll see two tabs: Summary and Responses.
Review the survey summary
The Summary tab shows one card per question, with how many people have answered it so far.
Scale questions show the average score and a bar chart of the answer distribution, plus the most recent answers and the lowest scores.
eNPS shows the score on a scale from −100 to +100, the share of detractors, passives, and promoters, and how many people gave each score from 0 to 10.
Single choice and Multiple choice questions show a percentage bar per option.
Text questions show the most recent answers.
The Summary tab with the Search, Filter, and view toggle controls and a scale question card.
The eNPS card with the score, the detractors, passives, and promoters split, and the answer distribution.
Click Details on any card to open a drawer with the full list of individual answers for that question, including any comments. Use Search at the top to find a question quickly, and the view toggle to switch between a list and a grid.
Review individual responses
The Responses tab is a table with one row per respondent and one column per question. Click the eye icon on a column to hide it, or the sort icon to sort by score.

Note: In an anonymous survey, each row is labeled Unknown respondent.
Filter the results
Filter by manager, group, or any custom field — for example, by office — on both tabs.
Click Filter, then + Add filter, and choose Manager, Group, or Custom field. For a custom field, pick which one — for example, Office.
Select one or more values and click Apply filters.

The cards and the table update to show only the matching responses, and the answered count on each card changes to match. Repeat + Add filter to combine filters, or click Clear filters to start over.
Note: In an anonymous survey, filtered results show only when the filter covers 5 or more respondents. For the same reason, you can’t apply a Not one of filter that excludes fewer than 5 people. Both rules make it impossible to de-anonymize a group of fewer than 5 people.
Export results to Excel
You can export a survey’s responses to an Excel file, which downloads straight to your computer. The file has one row per response, including comments. It doesn’t include group, department, or job columns — use the filters in the app for those breakdowns.
Close, archive, or run a survey again
Custom Surveys don’t have a fixed end date. You decide when you’ve collected enough answers and close the survey yourself.
Close a survey
You can close a survey while it’s running. Closing ends the survey for good: no more answers come in, and the results stay exactly as they are. The survey shows as Closed in your list.
Archive a survey
Archiving only hides a survey from view — it moves to the bottom of your list with an Archived status. It’s for tidying up, not for ending a survey.
Go to Engagement > Custom surveys, click the three dots next to the survey, and select Archive.
Important: An archived survey still accepts answers until you close it. If you want to stop collecting responses, close the survey first, then archive it.
Note: Surveys can’t be deleted. Archiving removes a survey from view, and its results are kept.
Run a survey again
To repeat a survey — next quarter, for example — duplicate it instead of rebuilding it.
Go to Engagement > Custom surveys, click the three dots next to the survey, and select Duplicate survey.
The copy keeps the same questions, audience, and settings. Give it a new name, adjust anything you need, and launch or schedule it.
Example
For example, say your anonymous quarterly engagement survey launched to the whole company on Monday.
A week later, most people have answered. You open the Summary tab to check the eNPS score and the scale questions, then filter by manager to spot teams that need a follow-up conversation.
You close the survey and export the responses for the leadership meeting.
Next quarter, you duplicate the survey, give it a new name, and schedule it again.
