Switch from legacy Surveys to Custom Surveys

Find out what’s new, what works differently, and what to use instead of the legacy features you relied on.

Custom Surveys is a rebuild of Surveys in Tellent HR Grow, moved onto our current platform so we can keep improving it and give you a much better results experience. It’s not a copy of the legacy version with extras — some things are new, some work differently, and a few legacy features are gone, usually with a simpler way to do the same job.

Note: If you already use Surveys, both versions stay available under Engagement in Tellent HR Grow: your existing surveys are marked Legacy, and Custom Surveys are marked New. Your legacy surveys keep working. Move across whenever you’re ready.

For step-by-step instructions, see Create and launch a Custom Survey and Review and manage Custom Survey results.

What’s new

These features didn’t exist in legacy Surveys.

  • Schedule a launch. Set a start date and time, and the survey launches by itself.

  • No login needed. Employees answer straight from the personal link in their invitation email.

  • Share link. Copy a link and post it anywhere — Slack, a newsletter, your intranet. Invited people log in and answer from there.

  • eNPS question. Get a real eNPS score with a breakdown of promoters, passives, and detractors.

  • Anonymity threshold. Anonymous results stay hidden until at least 5 people have answered.

  • Target a manager’s team. Pick a manager under Subordinates of to include everyone who reports to them, alongside Users, Groups, or All employees. Your picks add up — someone outside a selected group is still included if you add them individually.

  • Duplicate and Archive. Duplicate a survey to make a copy with the same questions, audience, and settings. Archive moves a survey to the bottom of your list.

  • Live preview. See the survey as employees will see it while you build it.

  • A much richer results view. A Summary tab with a card per question (averages, distributions, percentage bars, eNPS split), a Details drawer per question, a Responses tab with one row per respondent, comments visible in the app, and filters by manager, group, or custom field.

Downloads in the app. One row per response, comments included. No group, department, or job columns — use filters in the app instead

Adding people after launch

One person at a time

People, groups, and managers’ teams in one go. Only newly added people get an invitation

Ending a survey

—

Closing ends the survey: no more answers, results stay. Archive only moves it to the bottom of the list with an Archived status — an archived survey still accepts answers until you close it

Important: Archiving doesn’t stop a survey. To stop collecting answers, close the survey first, then archive it if you want it out of your list.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to switch now?

No. Both versions stay available, and your legacy surveys keep working. Switch when you’re ready.

Can I move my legacy surveys into Custom Surveys?

No. Legacy surveys don’t carry over. Rebuild the survey once as a Custom Survey, then duplicate that copy each time you want to run it.

Will my legacy results disappear?

No. Your legacy surveys and their results stay where they are, marked Legacy.

Why is anonymity off by default now?

So you make a deliberate choice for each survey. Turn it on when the topic is sensitive, and remember you can’t change it after launch.
